West Kildonan Memorial Community Centre provides recreational hockey opportunities for player’s ages 5–17 years of age. Our “Learn to Play League” offers our smallest Cougars in the 5& 6 and 7& 8 house leagues a chance to grab a stick and learn to play in a safe, sportsmanlike environment.

Changes and Need to Know on this year's registration....
  • All PLAYERS must be registered online
  • One PARENT in each household must complete the Respect in Sport-Parent prior to registration click here
  • You must have your Parent Respect In Sport number at the time of Registration

Hockey Levels

6 and under (Timbits), starts with 8 hours of on ice instruction. The IP (initiation program) consists of instruction  on: skating, stick handling and shooting etc.   Teams may also choose to enter tournaments. Most teams are on the ice twice a week.


7 and 8 house league also starts with 8 hours of on ice instruction. The IP (initiation program) consists of instruction on skating, stick handling and shooting etc.   Teams practice half ice and play full ice games.  Teams may also choose to enter tournaments. Most teams are on the ice twice a week.


8 A1 is a competitive team run by Seven Oaks Minor Hockey Association (SOMHA). Tryouts start in mid-September and the season ends at the end of March. All players must live in the catchment of the SOMHA. A team(s) is selected through a tryout process.


9 and older, hockey is run by SOMHA. Tryouts start in mid-September and the season ends at the end of March. Levels of hockey include A1, A2, and A3.  A1 and A2 are competitive teams that are chosen through tryouts. A3 is recreation level hockey. Players may go directly to this level without having to tryout.

RINGETTE

West Kildonan is a member of a larger organization known as the “North Winnipeg Ringette Association”. NWRA is the governing body for the game of Ringette in our area and this is where the core values of fairplay are entrenched. NWRA’s mandate is to provide its members programs that promote fairplay, where players are strongly encouraged to contribute in a positive and nurturing environment.
